Toogenblik

Before you can open the “saloon door” of Toogenblik, you have to climb a flight of stairs; Almost immediately afterwards you are immersed in the unique atmosphere of the café. It seems as if you have ended up in a museum. On the walls hang photos of both contemporary and past music glories that have already taken the stage here. Church chairs and rocking chairs are also used as furniture. The stage here is impossible to imagine. Toogenblik opened its doors in the mid-1970s. It is held up by volunteers. It is a Dutch-speaking youth center, the city of Brussels makes the building available. But above all it is also a music café, with a focus on folk, jazz, blues and country. Most of the artists who perform here come from Anglo-Saxon countries, but the audience consists of Brussels residents, Flemish and Walloons.
