Americana UK Video Premiere: Chris Murphy “Songs From The Trees”

New music from internationally renowned violinist Chris Murphy transports us through time and space into a cinematic world of myth and mystery. Steeped in atmosphere and layered with musical tension and release, Songs From The Trees finds Murphy in typically expansive form; urgent and dramatic, the song’s timeless feel is enhanced by the endless landscape and big skies that form the backdrop to Murphy’s performance in the accompanying video, which is the work of world-renowned photographer Edith Held. Filmed by Held in Santa Ynes, just north of Santa Barbara, California, it’s an artful visual companion to the music, with the setting sun reinforcing the mood perfectly. Murphy described the film-making process with Held as a, “…magical day,” and we feel that as we lose ourselves in the vast space and and in the ethereal sound of Murphy’s fiddle.
