Live Review: Maverick Festival, Easton Farm Park, Suffolk – 3rd-5th July 2026 by Andrew Frolish, AmericanaUK
Murphy, returning for a fourth consecutive year as Maverick’s Artist at Large, has become woven into the very fabric of the festival. His soaring violin lines floated above Joseph’s towering guitar sound before the two instruments began answering one another in thrilling musical conversation. Sometimes everything fell away except drums, handclaps and voice before the full band crashed gloriously back into life. The closing Climb To Safety, incorporating a passage of Brown Sugar, became an epic conclusion to the festival’s opening night. Murphy’s ethereal violin danced above huge distorted guitars while Joseph led the band through one final extended crescendo that left the Barn buzzing long after the final note had faded. It was dramatic, transporting and utterly unforgettable.
